Light Up the Classroom is a statewide educational initiative that helps Jewish parents, students, educators, and community volunteers introduce Hanukkah to non-Jewish students in an accurate, welcoming, age-appropriate, and engaging way.
Through food, games, storytelling, hands-on activities, and classroom presentations, the program builds familiarity with Jewish traditions, strengthens respect for Jewish students and families, and presents Jewish identity and Israel through positive human experiences.
Created by parents in the Raleigh-Durham area, this program is designed for children from preschool through high school and lets each participating family or school choose the level of involvement that best fits its classroom.
